Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu

Altitude: 1,350m/4,428ft - Welcome to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal! Our airport representative will welcome you and give shortly brief further details of the trip program. Overnight stay in hotel

Day 2
Preparation for Trek and Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour

After breakfast visit World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley which includes Swayambhunath Stupa / Monkey Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. Overnight stay at Hotel breakfast included

Day 3
Drive to airport for Pokhara

Drive to airport for Pokhara or Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (200 km- around 6 hours’ drive. Overnight stay at Hotel breakfast, lunch included

Day 4
Drive to Nayapul from Pokhara (1.5 hrs) and trek to Thikedunga (4 hrs) 1500 m

About 1.5 hrs drive head to Nayapul. This is the confluence of Modi river draining Annapurna base camp and Burungdi river. We follow upstream Burungdi River climbing gradually for about 4 hrs to Thikedunga. Thikedhunga is a small charming village full of lodges where we will spend the night. Overnight at a guesthouse - breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 5
Trek to Ghorepani (6 hrs / 2,800 m)

After breakfast, we will start our days walk with the steep climb to Ulleri village. There are about 3,000 stone steps to Ulleri village which will take about 2 hrs to climb. From Ulleri the trail climbs gradually through the forest for another 4 hrs to Ghorepani at 2,800 m. Overnight at a guesthouse - breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 6
Hike up to Pun Hill (50 mints / 3,210 m) | Trek to Tadapani 2670 m

Pun Hill is the most beautiful viewpoint in the Annapurna region. We will hike for about 1 hours to Pun Hill at 3,200 m for sunrise view over the Himalayan peaks. One can see about 15 different peaks including Dhaulagiri I (8,167m / 7th highest), Annapurna I (8,091m / 10th highest) and Manaslu (8,156 m / 8th highest). After breakfast, we will head to our next destination of Tadapani. The trail passes through the rhododendron forest with few ups and downs of 400 m. overnight at a guesthouse - breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 7
Trek to Jhinu Danda(1760m) 5 hrs

During this day, you will walk through terraces, green hills with mountain views. You will see their rich culture, Gurung people with their Typical Gurung dress on the way.The way to Annapurna Base Camp can go through Chhomrong but you will climb down to Jhinu Danda where is natural hot spring.You can enjoy with hot spring. Overnight at a guesthouse - breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 8
View Himalayas & Back to Dhampus Phedi then Pokhara

View the last panoramic Himalayas views and trek to Dhampus Phedi (920m) walking (4 hrs) drive back to Pokhara by the private vehicle do half day Pokhara sightseeing including Davis Fall, Gupteswori Cave, Tibetan Refugee Camp if you have a time boating in the Fewa Lake and stay in a Pokhara hotel. Overnight at Hotel - breakfast, lunch Pokhara tour entrance fee included.

Day 9
Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu

Enjoy beautiful riverside view on the way overland tour to Kathmandu relax and take a rest do some shopping and in the evening join cultural show dinner program - Overnight stay in Hotel breakfast, lunch, Dinner included

Farewell

Trekking Group Size

We organize trekking to Ghorepani Poon Hill in Annapurna region for any number of people. If the group consists of more than 16 pax, we will split the group and arrange accordingly. We will assign one trek leader, one assistant leader for the group. This arrangement ensures that the group can still go ahead as scheduled itinerary despite any member gets sick on the way in the trekking.

Experience and Health Requirements

Ghorepani Pooh Hill trek is considered a moderate trek suitable for those who can hike for 5 – 7 hours a day. No technical skills or use of crampons are required for this trekking. It is highly recommended for the trekkers to consult with the doctors before coming for this trekking. Trekkers who have asthma, allergy or any other diseases related to hurt, lungs should take more precaution for this trekking.

Travel Insurance

Trekkers need to have traveling insurance which covers the comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical issues or accidents (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and medical treatment costs). Insurance companies in Nepal do not provide traveling insurance for the foreigners and the trekkers need to get the traveling insurance from one of the international insurance companies. Sunrise Adventure Trek will have accident insurance for the trekking staff.

Accommodations

Accommodation in Kathmandu will be arranged on twin sharing basis on BB plan except the extra cost for the single supplement (depending on the room availability) according to the choice of the standard of the hotels before and after the trekking. Accommodation during the trekking will be arranged at standard teahouses/ lodges with unheated rooms with wooden beds and foam mattresses on twin sharing basis. The trekkers will have to share washing and toilet facilities.

Meals

Trekkers are provided three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) during Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking. They can enjoy the wide variety of food from typical Nepali food, Sherpa food, and Tibetan food to all types of international cuisine (Continental, Italian, and Indian). Unlike other trekking companies, Sunrise Adventure Trek allows trekkers to choose the food from the menu at the hotel/lodges in the trek. When the group is too big for the hotels/ lodges to provide individual dishes, a set menu will be arranged in most places. We use the lodges/hotels which serve hygienic, nutritious and good food for the trekkers for them to get enough energy for the hiking.

Acclimatization

Any trekker can get altitude sickness while trekking in the high altitude despite strong physical fitness. Hiking slowly especially in the high altitude help prevent AMS ( Acute Mountain Sickness ). If anyone feels dizzy, suffer palpitation or severe headaches and loss of appetite, he / she will be moved to the lower altitude immediately or arrange the helicopter rescue in the severe case of AMS and the client has to pay for it.

Equipment and Packing List

A variety of clothing is necessary for the Ghorepani Poonhill trek. While choosing the equipment trekkers to need to give emphasis on two simple aspects: Lightweight and Functional. The items should be lightweight, dependable, and adaptable to a variety of extreme weather conditions. Porter Care

We are strongly committed to the porter’s rights. We make sure that they are well paid and have the proper clothing, footwear, and shelter. We are aware that no porter should be asked to carry a load that is too heavy for their physical abilities and the weight limit should be adjusted for altitude, weather and trail condition. We request our members not to have more than 15 kg weight of luggage to give to the porters. Porters who become sick while in the trekking are treated with high priority just like the other trekking staff or the members. If the needed helicopter is sent and rescued in case of the severing condition of sickness or accident. All porters are insured for sickness and accident.

Season

Nepal, as a tourist destination is good for all seasons, however, the best seasons for trekking to Ghorepani Poon Hill are Spring (March-May) and Autumn (mid-Sept. – mid-Dec.). Trekking in autumn season is noted for clear weather and excellent views of silvery mountains against the blue sky. It gets colder towards the end of December. This trek can be done in any month with less focus on January and February.

Having well experience in tourism sector as a guide or potter, make easy to explain all the information required for trekking and can create very familiar environment to the guests.

  • 4. What about communication system during trek?

    As all the porters and guides are well certified by the Ministry of Nepal tourism they can easily understand and speak English languages during the trek. On the other hand, we can also provide you guides and potters according to your own understanding languages.

  • 5. Do I need to give tips to guide and potter and if how much?

    It’s difficult to mention about tipping which is up to your happiness, but guides and potters do expect the tips at the end of the trip. However, normally people can give minimum 10% of their total payment to the guide and porter.

  • 6. What kind of food, drinking water and accommodation do we have on Ghorepani Poon Hill trek?

    Trek to Everest Base Camp with Sunrise Adventure Trek includes trekking lodges or guest houses as accommodation with twin bed sharing room, if you are in a group and if you are solo traveler, you have private room.  Regarding meals, we will have some options to choose like: continental foods, Italian, Indian and Chinese cuisine etc. For drinking water, you can buy the mineral bottles or safe drinking water from hotel either you can bring water tablets.

  • 7. How many hours should I walk per day and what happened if I am a slow walker in the group?

    Normally, we have to walk around 5 to 7 hours per day, if you are slow in walk the team leader will professionally manage to you walking with our assistance guide and potter.
