Trip Summarize-
Jomsom and Muktinath trekking is the best trek in Annapurna region which is on the way to Mustang. Muktinath 3710m (12172 ft) is famous for pilgrimage spot for both the Hindus and Buddhists and great trekking area for travelers. Hindus, it is sacred as the place of salvation. The Hindus believe that bathing in the water here guarantees salvation after death. The Hindu god, Bramha, is thought to have lit the eternal flames that still burns at Muktinath which means (freedom from the karma). For the Buddhists, it is a place that the great sage Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) had meditation, it’s source of fossilized ammonites, known locally as saligrams, which are found all along the upper reaches of the Kali Gandaki valley. If you want to do shorter trek you can do Ghorepani Poonhill trek. Different amazing floras and faunas of this region provide you with unexpected moments of your life. You observe many endangered species like musk deer, leopards, spotted deer etc. in the beautiful forest of pine and bamboo.
However, while we do Jomosm Mukinath trekking we pass through the Kaligandaki George which is also the deepest George in the world. Some people like to fly and some drive to Jomsom 2743 m (8999 ft). So, Jomsom and Muktinath is also the main hub for Throng pass and Upper Mustang trek. Natural bath in the hot spring at Tatopani, amazing apple forest, and apple brandy in Marpha. Beautiful Kagbeni, Dhaulagiri ice falls, the unique culture of Gurung and Thakali, nice views of the Himalayas are main experiences of the trek.
Fascinating areas – culturally and historically, picturesque villages, monasteries. Unique landscape and easy access with very few trekkers in the area are the major highlights of this trip. Jomsom Mukinath trekking is among very few trips in Nepal which can be done throughout the year.
